The absolutely fastest CPU that can be placed into a Pix 520 (provided that it has a specific revision of the Intel SE440BX-2 motherboard with the necessary BIOS version installed, a specific slot 1 adapter, and specific verision of the Intel CPU ) is a Pentium III class 1.4GHz with a 100MHz front side bus. - The firewall is completely disassembled down to the naked chassis, where it is cleaned
- The original power supply, case fan, CPU cooling fan and floppy drive are discarded (regardless of their working condition) and are replaced with brand new Antec, Intel and Sony components
- All other internal components are cleaned and inspected
- The motherboard is upgraded to the last version of the Intel BIOS, P17.
- All non-Micron/Crucial Memory is discarded and all Micron Memory is subjected to no less than 24 continuous hours of MemTest86 testing. Any Dimm that exhibits a single error during that period is permanently discarded.
- After reassembly, every pix is placed within a production environment sustaining multiple simultaneous 3DES & AES-256 vpn connections for no less than 72 hours with traffic passing across each interface.
